Miami Spice 2014 and Iron Fork

Summer means two things for me:

  1. I get to part ways with my darling little students for a couple of months (I need this for my sanity).
  2. Just as my vacation is wrapping up and the reality of going back to work hits me like a brick, Miami Spice begins and softens the blow a bit. Only a bit, though…

Miami Spice is a two month affair that begins August 1st and ends September 30th. Over 150 restaurants participate and offer three-course fixed price menus for lunch at $23 and dinner at $39.

Some restaurants only offer the Spice menu on certain days and some only for lunch or only for dinner so it’s best to check the website before heading out.

To gear up for the main event, Miami New Times Iron Fork MIami Spice Kickoff event takes place on July 31st at the Hyatt Regency. It’s a great way to sample bites from many participating Miami Spice restaurants and event-goers will also get to witness the Iron Fork competition in which two prominent Miami Chefs will face off in an intense cook-off. This year Chef Todd Erickson of HaVen and Huahua’s Taqueria will battle against Chef Aaron Brooks from EDGE Steak and Bar. It’s sure to be a great event!
